CONVERTION OF LARD COW TO BIODISEL USING CaO AS A SOLID BASE CATALYST

Abstract

In thid study, convertion of lard cow into biodisel using CaO as a solid base calyst was studied.  Experiment were carried out using batch method with volume 500 mL, reaction conducted at 60-65⁰ C 79;10;11;12; and 13%. The resalt of GC-MS analysys showed that compesition lard cow that used as source fat are tertradecanoc acid, hexadecanoid acid, heptadecanoid, acid, siklopentametridecanoid acid, 12-octadecanoid acid, 9,12-octadecanoid acid, 11,14-Eicosadieonic acid, 9-octadecadionic acid, 9-octadecadionic acid (Z), 11-octadecadieonic acid, heptadecanoic acid, heneicosanoic acid 12-octadecanoic acid, 9-12-octadecadienoic acid, 11, 14-Eicosadienoic acid, 9-octadecadienoic acid, 9-octadecadienoic acid (Z) 11-octadecadienoic acid, 9-Hexadecenoic acid dan 9,12-octadecadienoic acid. The experimental results showed that addition of 12% CaO calyst gave the best results, and the biodiesel yield is 21% for direct transesterifiacation and 34,78% for esterification-esterification at 7 h.
